<br>Sporadic failure. The benefits outweigh the risks of failure for individual builds. Given occasional failure, the port for MacPorts should be a reliable build and install, so the parallel build will have to go.<br><br>

I seem to run into trouble on a dual zeon quad-core system with "gmake -j8 all"; it fails when it gets around to linking something at about 30% - 50% of the build (the exact point of failure may be random, depending on the job scheduling).<br>
